Hey!
If I could choose one word to summarize God's message to his people, it would be this:"GO!" Think about it: to Abraham, then to Moses, then to Joshua, then to David, to Jonathan, to Isaiah, to Jeremiah, to Jonah - to name a few - God just said: go, go, go, go, go, go, go and go! Then, of course, God said to His only begotton Son, "go", and Jesus told HIS still doubting disciples, "go". In fact, the book of Acts could easily be renamed "The Book of Go", because the church quickly spread from Judea into Samaria, then Caesarea, Ethiopia, Phillippi, to Rome, India, China, and then straight to Chicago!
Thus, our capital campaign is called GO! Because we want to go like that - a people who go: before the Lord, beyond ourselves, to he ends. And I can't wait to see how it changes all of us. How, when this all wraps up in three years, we will have been knit more passionately together around one vision; we will have become more adventurous faith-takers (lion-chasers!); a people who experience deeper initmiacy with Jesus, who dangerously trust Him with our finances, and who have greater boldness to fully live our lives on the offense for Him in our world.
And, as we become a people who go, we'll experience God's GO! in our community, over and over again. We will have seen more friends meet Jesus, more kids love Jesus, more people learning to be like Him, more leaders serving Him, and more people around the globe coming to know Him than we ever imagined before. That's just how it works. When God called Joshua to lead, He said, "be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid or discouraged. For the Lord your God is with you wherever you GO!" Cool verse, huh? But this is just bumper sticker fluff unless we first go, then watch God show up.
In order to fully GO!, this will take EVERYONE seizing this hill together. The following pages will show ways in which you can gete your GO! on.
GO!
